The Detective, The Woman and The Pirates Bounty – Amy Thomas

Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler retrace the steps of pirates as they uncover a conspiracy at the heart of Florida’s islands. Death threats and gangsters are not enough to stop the pair as they meet new friends and enemies while seeking pirate treasure and preserving law and order.

As a massive fan of Sherlock Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I jumped at the chance to review a new SH book. Amy’s writing really does stick to the beloved style, she has written a fantastic book.

I really loved the plot, seeing Holmes go abroad to solve a crime puts him in a fantastic setting. The ‘baddie’ is well written and Holmes typical style of solving the case through minute deductions must take a genius to write, so my hat is off to Amy! The relationship with Adler, much hinted at in the originals, was interesting to see played off in the pages. It was a bold decision to leave Watson behind, but one I feel pays off.

I also was happy to note that this is not the first Holmes book Amy has written and I look forward to discovering her back catalogue! Put simply, if you like Sherlock Holmes, you will like this book!

Many thanks to Caroline at Bits about Books for inviting me on this tour!
